What is Vala?

Vala is a production studio, and a new kind of regional theater for the world. We make Muzi™ — short musical films, fully produced, Broadway ready. A Muzi is a six-episode EP that delivers the first 25 minutes of a new musical, with original songs by working theater writers and performances by Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Tony-recognized artists. It is a fully produced introduction to a show that may live on as a Broadway production, a series, a film, or as the Muzi™ itself.

How much does Vala cost?

Episode 1 of every Muzi is free. After that, single episodes are 99¢, and the full Muzi EP — all six episodes — is $3.99. A monthly subscription will launch when the catalog reaches twenty titles.

Is Vala free for schools?

Yes. Forever. All Vala education — meeting national standards, including workbooks, teacher guides, and classroom materials, distributed in partnership with the Johnny Mercer Foundation — is forever free for students, teachers, and schools. We believe the audience of tomorrow is built through education today, and we won’t put a paywall between a young person and a song.

Where can I watch?

On any screen — phone, tablet, laptop, smart TV — at watchamuzi.com. Episode 1 of every Muzi is free. Join our email list and we’ll let you know the moment the curtain goes up.

When does Vala launch?

June 16, 2026. Bloomsday. Four titles open the season simultaneously: Himself & Nora (in partnership with the James Joyce Centre, Dublin), A Complicated Woman, Pissin’ With the Tall Dogs, and Nightmare Alley.

What does the Muzi™ trademark mean?

A Muzi is a new format we invented and trademarked: a six-episode EP, fully produced as a short musical film, made by working theater artists, designed to be watched anywhere. It’s our answer to the question, what would a new musical look like if its first 25 minutes were built for a screen first?

What happens after the Muzi?™

Sometimes a Muzi™ is the whole story — six episodes, beautifully made, and that’s enough. Sometimes it’s the beginning of something bigger. A Muzi™ can continue as a series. It can grow into a full Off-Broadway or Broadway production. It can become a feature film. The Muzi™ introduces the show. Where it goes next is part of the story, and our audience is part of how it gets there.

Why AI?

Because a new musical typically takes ten years and millions of dollars to reach a stage — and most never get there. AI lets us produce original work in months, at a fraction of the cost, without compromising the writing or the music. Those are still authored by human artists.

Here’s the key thing to understand: every Muzi™ begins with real human performances. The acting is always human — real actors, never AI. And every song starts with a real human voice: a human sings it — sometimes the original artist, sometimes a member of our team — and AI may then shape or enhance that vocal to serve the story. Think of it as a radio show with pictures, where the performance always starts with a human. AI doesn’t invent the songs or the performances; it helps bring them to life, and renders the images, the way animation always has — just at a new level of realism. That’s why we call it musical photoreal animation.

Each Muzi™ is an incubator. It seeds demand and builds an audience for full-length live musicals, helping artists get their work funded and staged — work that might otherwise sit in a drawer because no one can afford the millions it takes to reach a stage. AI is a tool in the hands of artists — and every artist is always credited and earns a royalty, whether they performed the work or inspired an AI-shaped vocal. A meaningful share of every Muzi’s revenue goes back to the writers, performers, and directors who made it.

Our philosophy, plainly stated: artists using AI, for artists.
